Andijan deputy governor detained with $50,000 bribe

Isomiddin Ismanov, a deputy governor of Andijan region who was appointed four months ago, was detained while allegedly accepting a $50,000 bribe at his home. This was reported by a QALAMPIR.UZ source.

 According to the report, during a special operation conducted on April 4, the deputy governor of Andijan region for tourism, culture, cultural heritage, and mass communications was detained with material evidence while receiving $50,000 in chemically treated cash from a citizen identified as S.R.T. at his home on Farovon Street in the Dalvarzin neighborhood of Andijan city.

According to the report, during a special operation conducted on April 4, the deputy governor of Andijan region responsible for tourism, culture, cultural heritage, and mass communications was caught with material evidence while receiving $50,000 in chemically treated cash from a citizen identified as S.R.T. The money was allegedly handed over at his home on Farovon Street in the Dalvarzin neighborhood of Andijan city.

A criminal case was opened against Ismanov on April 5 under Articles 25 and 168, Part 4(a) of the Criminal Code on fraud, as well as Articles 28 and 211, Part 3(a) on bribery.

Ismanov was appointed to the post on December 9 last year, meaning he had been in office for less than four months.

For reference, Isomiddin Ismanov was born in 1981 in Andijan district. In 2006, he graduated from the Tashkent Higher Military Technical School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From 2022 to 2025, he served as deputy head of the Andijan regional Department of Internal Affairs and head of the Public Security Service. From May 2025, he worked as head of the Operational Situation Analysis Department under the Operational Search Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In December 2025, he was moved to the active personnel reserve and then appointed deputy governor of Andijan region for tourism, culture, cultural heritage, and mass communications.

Earlier, it was reported that a chief specialist at the Tashkent city department of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services had also been detained while allegedly accepting a $1,500 bribe.
