Uzbekistan will establish an International Digital Technologies Center. This was announced during a presentation reviewed on March 25 by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which also covered the creation of the Tashkent International Financial Center and the introduction of Islamic finance mechanisms in the banking system.
According to the report, a special legal regime for the center will be introduced, set to remain in effect until 2100. Within this framework, new solutions can be tested under a regulatory sandbox, salaries may be paid in foreign currency, international labor standards will be applied, and personal data can be processed in line with international standards using cloud technologies. The initiative also предусматривает strong intellectual property protection, as well as favorable conditions for investment, startups, and exports, along with customs and tax incentives.
The center’s main areas of activity will include artificial intelligence technologies, digital transformation, research and development, certification, startups, and data centers.
It was noted that by 2030, the center aims to attract up to 1,000 companies, create more than 300,000 jobs, and reach an export potential of $5 billion. Several major international technology companies have already expressed interest in the initiative.
It is worth noting that earlier reports also announced plans to establish the Tashkent International Financial Center and an Islamic Finance Council under the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
