According to the amendments to the Customs Code of Uzbekistan adopted today, November 27, under Law No. 1097, additional customs duties will be applied to goods whose country of manufacture is unknown.

The law specifies that standard customs duties, as determined by the tariff rates, will continue to apply to goods produced in countries that enjoy the Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) trade regime with Uzbekistan, regardless of the exporter’s country.

For goods produced in countries not covered by the MFN regime or for products with an unknown country of origin, additional customs duties will be applied on top of the regular tariff rates as follows:

  • For goods with an ad valorem tariff rate of up to 10% – additional 5%
  • For goods with an ad valorem tariff rate of 10–20% – additional 10%
  • For goods with an ad valorem tariff rate of 20–30% – additional 15%
  • For goods with an ad valorem tariff rate of 30% or more – additional 20%

The law will enter into force three months after its official publication.

It is worth noting that earlier, household air purifiers (TIF TN code 8509 80) imported into Uzbekistan were exempted from customs duties.
