Uzbekistan begins its Asian Cup campaign today

Today, January 28, the Uzbekistan national futsal team will play its opening match at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup. In the first round, the team coached by Nodir Eliboyev will face Tajikistan. The match is scheduled to kick off at 17:00 Tashkent time.

The AFC Futsal Asian Cup officially got underway yesterday, January 27, in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Uzbekistan, competing in Group C, will face Tajikistan in the opening round, followed by matches against Australia and Japan on January 30 and February 1, respectively.

For reference, the Uzbekistan national team is one of four teams that have participated in every edition of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup. Iran, Japan, and Thailand are the other teams that have never missed the continental championship.

In the history of the tournament, Uzbekistan has reached the final four times, finishing as runners-up on each occasion, and has also won the bronze medal six times.
