A man who posed as an employee of the Presidential Administration, the State Security Service, and other government organizations, forging identity documents and using them for personal gain, has been detained in Tashkent. This was reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital.
According to the report, during an operational operation, traffic police officers stopped a white Lacetti driven by a citizen named Javakhir Orifjanov on Shota Rustaveli Street in the Yakkasaroy district. While checking documents, the driver claimed to be an employee of the State Security Service and presented an ID card to the officers. He also called an acquaintance, allegedly a high-ranking official, and asked to be released. This individual then instructed the officers to let him go.
However, law enforcement officers, noticing suspicious behavior, decided to verify his information. As a result, it was revealed that the service ID was fake and had no connection to the State Security Service. The suspect was detained on the spot along with material evidence.
Further investigation uncovered additional offenses. Orifjanov often introduced himself as an employee of the Presidential Administration or various law enforcement agencies. He claimed to work in ministries and departments, misused the names of high-ranking organizations, and resolved personal matters while posing as a fake official. To do this, he used forged certificates prepared in advance.
A court found him guilty under Article 228 (preparation, forgery, sale, or use of documents, stamps, seals, or forms) of the Criminal Code, paragraphs “a” and “b,” part three. He was sentenced to three years and six months in prison under Article 59 of the Criminal Code (imposition of punishment for multiple crimes). He will serve his sentence in a penal colony.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have been a victim of this person’s criminal activities to report it to the nearest police station or by calling 102.
It is worth noting that earlier in Tashkent, another individual posing as a State Security Service officer and promising assistance with customs clearance of goods was also detained.
