Responsible employee of Gulistan administration detained with bribe

A responsible employee of the Gulistan city administration was detained after allegedly demanding $50,000 to help obtain two sotix of state-reserve land through his official acquaintances, the State Security Service reported.

According to the report, the employee used his official position to gain the trust of a citizen who wanted to engage in business. He allegedly demanded $50,000 in exchange for helping the citizen obtain two sotix of land located on O‘zbekiston Avenue in the city, which was part of the state reserve, through his official acquaintances in order to open a grocery store there. Initially, the responsible employee valued the citizen’s Lacetti car at $12,000 as part of the demanded amount and took it after preparing a power of attorney granting him the right to drive the vehicle.

During an operation, the administration official was detained with physical evidence while receiving $8,000 from the demanded amount. A criminal case has been opened against him, and he has been placed in custody as a preventive measure. Investigative actions are underway.

Earlier, an inspector in Chust district, Namangan region, was detained for allegedly taking a bribe in exchange for helping illegally move livestock across the border.
