Colonel Zufar Kurbanov has been appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Head of the Department of Digital Technologies and Legal Statistics. The appointment was announced during a meeting focused on the introduction of digital technologies within the internal affairs system and the enhancement of efforts to combat cybercrime, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
During the event, the presidential resolutions “On measures to further strengthen activities to combat crimes committed using information technologies” and “On measures to establish the Department of Digital Technologies and Legal Statistics in the Ministry of Internal Affairs” were read aloud, along with the key priorities outlined within them.
In line with the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the former position of Deputy Minister for Information Technologies has been abolished. It has been replaced with the newly created role of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Head of the Department of Digital Technologies and Legal Statistics, to which Kurbanov has now been appointed.
Before this, Kurbanov had been serving as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs for Information Technologies since September 2023. He has also held senior positions at the national telecommunications company "Uzbektelecom".
It is also worth noting that Uzbekistan’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Aziz Toshpulatov, was recently elected head of the country’s Volleyball Federation.
