Earthquake in Kyrgyzstan felt in Uzbekistan

An earthquake struck Kyrgyzstan today, April 2, according to Uzbekistan’s Republican Center for Seismic Prognostic Monitoring.

The earthquake occurred at 04:28. Its epicenter was located 345 kilometers southeast of Tashkent. The earthquake measured magnitude 4.2 and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was near Osh, Kyrgyzstan, at coordinates of 40.7 degrees north latitude and 73.26 degrees east longitude.

The tremor was felt in several parts of Uzbekistan.

  • In Khanabad district, the intensity reached 3 points at a distance of 25 kilometers.
  • In Kurgontepa district, the intensity reached 3 points at a distance of 34 kilometers.
  • In Jalakuduk district, the intensity was recorded at 2 points at a distance of 53 kilometers.
  • In Khojaabad district, the intensity was recorded at 2 points at a distance of 54 kilometers.
  • In Bulaqboshi district, the intensity was recorded at 2 points at a distance of 67 kilometers.
  • In Pakhtaabad district, the intensity was recorded at 2 points at a distance of 75 kilometers.
  • In Andijan district, the intensity was recorded at 2 points at a distance of 76 kilometers.

Earlier, a 3.7-magnitude earthquake was also reported in Bukhara region.
