Nearly 600 kilograms of drugs brought from Afghanistan were intercepted, the State Security Service reported.
According to the report, a Mercedes truck driven by an Afghan citizen entered the Termiz-Avto border customs post in Surkhandarya region from Afghanistan and was inspected in accordance with established procedures.
During the inspection, a Doosan excavator being transported on the truck’s trailer was scanned using an inspection complex. Suspicious objects not included in the equipment’s design were detected inside the excavator’s boom.
The excavator’s openings were then examined using a special endoscope device. As a result, 593 kilograms of hashish and 3 kilograms of opium were found hidden inside the boom.
A criminal case has been opened under Articles 246, on smuggling, and 273, on the illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage and other actions involving narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances with intent to sell, as well as their illegal sale, of the Criminal Code. Measures are currently being taken to identify and detain the owners of the drugs.
It is worth noting that drug dealers who were uncle and nephew were earlier detained in the city of Kokand, Fergana region.
