Sherzod Asadov appointed to new position

Alisher Saidabbosovich Sultanov has been appointed as the Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Energy Security. The corresponding presidential decree has been signed.

In connection with this appointment, Sultanov has been relieved of his previous role as Advisor to the President on Energy Security.

For reference, Alisher Sultanov was born on November 29, 1967. He served as President of the National Olympic Committee from January 2017 to January 2018, and then as Vice-President until December 2018. He also headed the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan for a period and served for many years on the board of Uzbekneftegaz.

From 2017 to 2022, Sultanov held the position of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He also served as Minister of Energy from February 16, 2019, to June 7, 2022. In addition, he was Chairman of the Rowing & Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan from 2020 to 2022. Since 2022, he had been serving as an advisor to the President on energy security.

It should be recalled that Sultanov was previously dismissed from the post of Minister of Energy due to health reasons.
