Sardor Umurzakov appointed advisor to the President on Strategic Sevelopment

Sherzod Ikromovich Asadov, Press Secretary of the President of Uzbekistan, has been appointed Head of the Communications Department of the Presidential Administration (Press Secretary of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan). A corresponding decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Sherzod Asadov was born on May 4, 1981, in the Shafirkan district of the Bukhara region. He graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with a degree in International Economic Relations. He is fluent in Russian, English, Spanish, and Turkish.

In 2007–2008, he served as a referent and attaché in the Main Department for Analysis and Strategy of Foreign Policy Activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. Between 2008 and 2012, he worked at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore, first as an attaché and later as third secretary.

After returning from his diplomatic mission, he resumed work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2012 to 2015, he held positions as second secretary, first secretary, and head of department in the Department for Cooperation with CIS and SCO countries, where he focused on cross-border cooperation. From 2015 to 2017, Asadov worked as Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs while also heading the Ministry’s Secretariat. He later served as a counselor and ambassador at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Austria.

On March 19, 2020, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the UN, OSCE, and the European Union. On March 24, 2021, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev appointed him Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration and Press Secretary to the President.

We would like to remind readers that last month, by presidential decree, changes were made to the structure of the Presidential Administration, and the position of Head of the Presidential Administration was introduced. By the same decree, Saida Shavkatovna Mirziyoyeva was appointed to this new post.
