Officers of the Tashkent City Customs Administration have stopped the illegal import of medical products worth more than 1 billion soums, UzA reported.
According to the documents, the medical products sent from China in the name of one of the capital’s limited liability companies were declared at $5,400, with a net weight of 132.5 kilograms. In reality, however, the situation turned out to be different.
During the customs inspection, officers found that the information in the documents did not match the actual shipment. The declaration stated that the cargo contained 5,400 dental items, but in fact their number reached 82,500.
It was also established that the cargo included an additional 30 sets of dental equipment that had not been mentioned in the documents at all.
The preliminary value of the medical goods seized as evidence was estimated at 1.04 billion soums. An investigation is currently under way.
It is worth noting that earlier, a father and son were detained in Tashkent for selling medicines worth 3 billion soums without quality certification.
