President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by Sergio Gor, the U.S. President’s Special Representative for South and Central Asia. The meeting was reported by the presidential press service.

The delegation also included U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and other senior officials. The sides discussed the further development of the Uzbekistan–U.S. strategic partnership within the framework of agreements reached at the high-level meeting held on September 23 in New York.

At the beginning of the meeting, Sergio Gor conveyed U.S. President Donald Trump’s greetings and warm wishes to President Mirziyoyev. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the active political dialogue, regular exchanges at various levels, and the growing business relations between the two countries.

The discussion highlighted the importance of advancing projects in industry, finance, critical minerals, energy, digitalization, agriculture, and other priority sectors, in line with the adopted “roadmap.” The parties also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, and combating illegal migration.

They reviewed issues of global and regional significance and discussed upcoming events, including the planned C5+1 summit scheduled to be held in Washington next week.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Sergio Gor presented several gifts to the Uzbek leader on behalf of Donald Trump — including a cap.

During their visit to Uzbekistan, Sergio Gor and Christopher Landau held discussions on October 25 with representatives of American companies about expanding opportunities for mutual prosperity. On October 6, they explored Uzbekistan’s rich history and culture, visiting the Islamic Civilization Center and the Chorsu Bazaar in Tashkent, accompanied by Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick.

On October 27, Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov also met with Sergio Gor to discuss further cooperation.

For reference, Sergio Gor was born in Tashkent on November 30, 1986, and later studied in the United States. He has been active in the Republican Party and served in several key positions on Donald Trump’s team, including Director of the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House. In August 2025, Trump nominated him as U.S. Ambassador to India. Gor currently serves as the U.S. Special Representative for South and Central Asia.

It is worth noting that President Mirziyoyev had previously met with Sergio Gor on September 22, 2025, during the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
