On January 15, the draw ceremony was held for the main draw of the Australian Open 2026, the first of the four Grand Slam tournaments of the year. As a result, two members of Uzbekistan’s national team, Kamilla Rakhimova and Polina Kudermetova, learned their first-round opponents.
The Australian Open, which is being held for the 114th time in its history and features a record total prize fund of $75 million, will see Uzbekistan’s first and third-ranked women’s players, Kamilla Rakhimova and Polina Kudermetova, represent the country in the women’s main draw.

According to the draw, Polina Kudermetova will face Spain’s Guiomar de Reales in the opening round. If Kudermetova advances, she will meet either Denmark’s Clara Tauson or Hungary’s Dalma Gálfi in the second round.

Kamilla Rakhimova, meanwhile, will take on American star Coco Gauff in her opening match. The winner of that encounter will face either 45-year-old American Venus Williams or Serbia’s Olga Danilović in the second round.
For reference, the main draw matches of the Australian Open 2026 will begin on January 18. The defending champion is American Madison Keys, who defeated Aryna Sabalenka in last year’s final in straight sets.
It is worth recalling that earlier reports said the prize fund of the Australian Open 2026 had reached a record level, with total prize money increasing by 16 percent to 111.5 million Australian dollars, or approximately $75 million.
