20-year-old man snatches woman’s gold chain and flees (video)

A 20-year-old man snatched a gold chain from the neck of a woman working at a food outlet in the Yakkabog‘ mahalla of Tashkent’s Chilanzar district and fled the scene. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to reports, the woman had been carrying out her duties early in the morning when an unknown individual suddenly approached her. She initially thought he was another customer. Unexpectedly, he tore off the gold chain from her neck, valued at 10.2 million soums, and ran away in an unknown direction. The victim immediately contacted the internal affairs authorities.

“In less than five minutes, the officers arrived. Everything was set in motion. Soon after, we received word that the suspect had been found,” the woman said.

During оперативно-search measures, the suspect — a man born in 2006 — was detained in Yangiyo‘l district of Tashkent region. Relevant documents were drawn up in connection with the case and submitted to the Chilanzar district investigation department.

It was established that the suspect had previously been convicted under Article 169 of the Criminal Code, which covers theft. However, he failed to draw the proper conclusion from the punishment imposed on him and turned to crime again.

“It turns out you cannot escape. They found me within a day anyway. I would not advise anyone to do such a thing. One should live by honest work. Coveting someone else’s property does not end well. I regret what I did. I would not wish such a situation even on my enemy. I ask forgiveness from our people, from that woman, and from everyone,” the suspect said.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 166 of the Criminal Code, which covers robbery.

It is worth noting that on December 21, 2025, a young man born in 2004 snatched a girl’s phone and ran off while she was passing through an underground walkway.
