It is noted that in 2024, 62.4 million people died globally, which is 1.2% more than in 2023 (61.7 million deaths).

“The number of deaths in 2025 is expected to reach 63.1 million, with an annual growth rate of 1.2%,” the report states.

Also, the projected number of deaths for Uzbekistan in 2025 is 219.4 thousand people.

Among other CIS countries, the highest number of deaths in 2025 is expected to occur in Russia, with 1.9 million deaths. Next in line are:

  • Ukraine – 520.2 thousand;
  • Kazakhstan – 140.6 thousand;
  • Belarus – 119.1 thousand;
  • Azerbaijan – 70.1 thousand;
  • Turkmenistan – 44.8 thousand;
  • Kyrgyzstan – 44.1 thousand;
  • Moldova – 42 thousand;
  • Armenia – 27.7 thousand.

In addition, by macroregion, the highest number of deaths is expected to occur in Asia, where 34.7 million people may die. Africa ranks second with 11.7 million deaths, followed by Europe (8.5 million). America is expected to see 7.9 million deaths, while Oceania is projected to have 317.8 thousand.

By gender, the forecast predicts 34.1 million men and 29.1 million women will die worldwide in one year. The projected number of male deaths is 17.3% higher than female deaths.

By 2100, scientists estimate that the number of deaths worldwide will reach 122.9 million, which is 97% more than in 2024.

It should be noted that earlier, it was reported that as of January 1, 2025, 19,135.8 thousand people in Uzbekistan live in urban areas and 18,407.4 thousand in rural areas.
