On July 23, three members of a family drowned in Akchakul Lake, located between the Ellikkal’a and Beruniy districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. This was confirmed by Hayot Shamsutdinov, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office, in response to a request from QALAMPIR.UZ.

According to reports, on July 23 at approximately 15:00, M.M., a resident of the "Do‘stlik" mahalla in Beruniy district, went on a family outing to Akchakul Lake with his children, wife, and nieces. They boarded a personal boat, but due to negligence, the boat drifted to the middle of the lake and eventually sank. As a result, M.M.’s wife, R.Z., and their two minor daughters — 13-year-old R.S. and 10-year-old R.S. — drowned and died at the scene. According to QALAMPIR.UZ, there were eight people on the boat at the time of the incident.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 102 of the Criminal Code (Death by Negligence).

We remind readers that earlier this year, seven children who were left unsupervised in their home in Tashkent went to a nearby pond, where two of them tragically drowned.
