Officials detained in Andijan for selling coal allocated to residents

In Andijan region, individuals who were selling coal allocated for residents and social sector facilities at subsidized prices during the autumn–winter season have been detained. The information was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the department, during an operational event, Sh.T., an expedition–treasurer at the Pakhtaobod coal warehouse of Komir Ta’minot LLC (previously convicted), agreed to sell 35.1 tonnes of coal to an entrepreneur for 35.1 million soums and was detained with evidence at the moment he received 2,800 dollars.
A subsequent inventory check conducted with the involvement of specialists revealed a shortage of 196.1 tonnes of coal at the warehouse.
In addition, responsible employees of the Qorqontepa coal warehouse of Komir Ta’minot LLC sold 153.6 tonnes of coal to seven citizens and entrepreneurs engaged in coal trading. They were detained with evidence while selling the coal at 1,200 soums per kilogram.
An inventory inspection at this warehouse revealed a shortage of 183.9 tonnes of coal.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 167 of the Criminal Code (misappropriation or embezzlement), and investigative actions are under way.
Earlier, it was reported that coal production in Uzbekistan had increased by 15 percent.
