A bailiff of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau (CEB) who accepted a bribe of 14.3 million soums and $450 in the Bekabad district of Tashkent region has been sentenced to six years in prison, the State Security Service reported.

According to the report, during an operation conducted by the Tashkent regional Department of the State Security Service in cooperation with the regional prosecutor’s office, a state executor of the CEB in Bekabad city, born in 1989, abused his official authority to demand 20 million soums from a resident in exchange for lifting a travel ban imposed due to alimony arrears. Of this amount, 13 million soums were taken as a bribe before he was caught red-handed with material evidence.

It was also revealed that the state executor had previously received $450 and 1.3 million soums for the same “service.”

The Bekabad District Court on criminal cases found him guilty under Article 210 (Bribery), Part 2, Clause “v,” and Article 168 (Fraud), Part 3, Clause “v” of the Criminal Code. He was additionally barred from holding positions involving leadership or material responsibility in law enforcement agencies and state-owned organizations for two years and sentenced to six years of imprisonment.

It is worth noting that earlier, the head of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau in one of the districts of the Fergana region was caught taking a $1,200 bribe while using his official authority.
