In the Bekabad district of the Tashkent region, illegal sand and gravel mining caused environmental damage estimated at 16 billion 912 million 862 thousand 600 soums. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.
According to the ministry, a recent inspection was conducted by responsible officers in the district. During the raid, it was discovered that offenders F.T. and U.Q. were illegally extracting and transporting sand and gravel from the Syrdarya riverbed near the Achamayli neighborhood (MFY) using a truck and a special loading vehicle.
Calculations revealed that the damage caused to nature as a result of this unlawful activity amounted to nearly 17 billion soums. The collected case materials have been forwarded to the Tashkent regional prosecutor’s office for legal assessment.
We remind that earlier, citizens illegally cutting saxaul in Bukhara and transporting it to Khorezm injured inspectors who were pursuing them.
