On February 1, a woman in the Shofirkon district of the Bukhara region died after consuming two-year-old canned tomatoes, according to the district administration's press service.
The incident began on January 11, when four members of a family sought medical attention from the Shofirkon district medical association due to poor health.
Examinations revealed that the family members were infected with botulism.
“They received continuous medical care from qualified specialists in the region,” the report stated.
After treatment, three family members showed signs of improvement and were allowed to return home.
However, despite the intensive care provided, the patient, identified as I.Sh., consumed more pickles, which led to severe symptoms of the disease.
It is important to note that earlier, 23 Uzbek citizens tragically died in Turkey due to consuming counterfeit alcohol.
