Burial registration in Uzbekistan will be digitized, according to a government resolution adopted today, 21 November, titled “On measures to improve the system for organizing and recording burial activities and to implement effective control mechanisms in the sector.”
Under the resolution, new electronic services will be introduced to digitize the authorization and registration of burials and to monitor these processes through an electronic information system.
By 1 June 2026, the “Unified Electronic Archive of the Civil Registry Office” will include a module called the “Unified Electronic Register of Burial Activities” and a corresponding mobile application will be developed.
From 1 March 2026, after a death is officially recorded, a QR-coded certificate confirming the death will be sent free of charge to the personal accounts in the Unified Interdepartmental Electronic Portal (my.gov.uz) of the deceased’s spouse, parents, and children.
The certificate with the QR code will be considered equivalent to a state-issued official document.
From 1 July to 31 December 2026, an experimental procedure for conducting burial activities will be introduced in Tashkent:
- The cemetery director (supervisor) will grant permission for burials only through the electronic module or its mobile application.
- The previous paper-based procedure for registering burials by cemetery directors (supervisors) will be abolished.
