Criminal liability for minors in Uzbekistan is now being liberalized. This is stipulated in the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan ’’On amendments and additions to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the further liberalization of criminal liability for minors,’’ adopted on October 23 of this year.

According to the amendments and additions introduced to the Criminal Code, individuals who committed a crime before reaching the age of eighteen and have fully served their sentence will now be considered as having no prior conviction.

It is noted, however, that this rule does not apply to those who committed particularly serious crimes or intentionally committed a new offense before turning eighteen after serving their previous sentence.

Additionally, the minimum term of restriction of liberty and imprisonment for minors has been reduced from six months to one month.

The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on July 4, 2023, and approved by the Senate on August 1, 2025.
