A man in the Toshloq district of Fergana region has been sentenced for strangling his wife to death with a whip following a family dispute. The information was reported by Aziz Obidov, the press secretary of the Supreme Court.
Investigations revealed that the man, a resident of Navbahor Street in the “Chek” mahalla of Toshloq district, had long-standing conflicts with his wife due to ongoing family disagreements. On the night of the incident, the couple argued again over moving out of the house they shared with the man’s brothers. While his wife was asleep, the husband strangled her in their bedroom using a whip.
Later, he told his wife’s relatives that she had hanged herself. The husband and the couple’s relatives then attempted to conceal the truth, telling neighbors that the woman had died suddenly due to a drop in blood pressure.
However, the victim’s sister became suspicious after hearing the husband’s account and filed a complaint with the district prosecutor’s office to determine the true cause of death. Following an exhumation and forensic examination, evidence confirmed that the woman had been murdered.
The man was charged under Article 97, Part 2, Paragraph “v” of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan for committing murder and sentenced to 16 years in prison.
It is worth noting that earlier, in Samarkand, a man was arrested while attempting to bury his brother-in-law’s body in a cemetery after killing him and hiding the corpse in a sack.
