Fergana police officers assault football fans (video)

A video circulating on social media shows football fans in Fergana city, Fergana region, being beaten by law enforcement officers. The regional Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) has issued a statement regarding the incident.

According to the statement, on November 22, before the football match between “Neftchi” and “Qizilqum” at the Istiklol Stadium in Fergana, several individuals without tickets attempted to enter the stadium illegally at the No. 2 security checkpoint. They tried to bypass metal barriers and resisted the lawful orders of security personnel.

“The prompt and decisive actions of the officers assigned to maintain public order prevented further disorder. The identities of all individuals suspected of organizing this disruption have been established, and investigative measures are underway to hold them legally accountable,” the DIA statement said.

The video shows masked law enforcement officers striking citizens with batons. In response, some individuals hurled objects at the officers.

In the match, Fergana’s “Neftchi” team secured the 2025 Uzbekistan Super League championship ahead of schedule. Led by Vitaliy Levchenko, the team became national champions for the first time in 24 years after defeating “Qizilqum” with one match remaining in the season.

Earlier, in Samarqand region, a police officer named Ahmad was caught on video demanding that a journalist admit wrongdoing, using force and insulting the journalist in the district court of Samarqand.
