New governor appointed for Gijduvon district

Today, 25 November, Farhod Umarov was appointed as the new governor of Gijduvon district in Bukhara region, the regional government’s press service reported.
It was noted that an extraordinary session of the Gijduvon District Council of People’s Deputies was held to address organizational matters. During the session, Acting Regional Governor Botir Zaripov read out the decision to appoint Farhod Baqoevich Umarov, who previously served as director of the “Gijduvon” Free Economic Zone Directorate, as the district governor.
For context, Farhod Umarov began his career as a lecturer at the Bukhara College of Economics and Banking and later held leadership positions in the Bukhara city finance department and the regional finance administration. From 2015 to 2017, he served as a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. Between 2017 and 2021, he was the first deputy governor of Bukhara region, and from 2021 to 2024, he served as governor of Vobkent district.
It is worth noting that earlier, Jamoliddin Khojimanov was relieved of his duties as governor of Guliston city and replaced by Farrukh Oktamjonov.
