Families of victims in Guliston explosion to receive 100 million soums each

Earlier reports stated that an explosion occurred at a catering branch located in the Taraqqiyot Mahalla of Guliston city, Syrdarya Region, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to 29 others. Today, 4 December, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed during an extraordinary session of the Syrdarya Regional Council of People’s Deputies that the families of the victims be provided with 100 million soums each in financial assistance.

The President expressed his deep condolences to the victims’ families and ordered the allocation of 100 million soums to each family. Under his instructions, a team of ten qualified doctors, led by the Director of the Republican Emergency Medical Aid Center, is providing free high-quality medical and psychological support to those affected.

In addition, responsible authorities have been tasked with promptly investigating the causes of this unfortunate incident and ensuring compliance with the law. It was noted that the tragedy should serve as an important lesson for the emergency response system. All relevant officials are required to switch to a 24-hour work schedule during winter months to prevent such incidents.

Earlier, President Mirziyoyev visited the hospital to check on the condition of those injured in the explosion.

According to the Ministry of Health, 29 people sustained varying degrees of burns and injuries. Twenty-six of them were admitted to the Syrdarya branch of the Republican Emergency Medical Aid Scientific Center, while three patients, whose conditions were stable, received outpatient care and were sent home. A specialized team of combustiologists, anesthesiologists, neurosurgeons, joint surgeons, traumatologists, and microsurgeons, led by the Center’s Director Davron To‘laganov, arrived at the site on the day of the incident to provide medical care.

Among patients admitted in critical condition, three died. Currently, one hospitalized patient remains in critical condition and is on a ventilator. Of those in intensive care, five are in stable but serious condition, breathing independently and conscious. Two patients were transferred to the Syrdarya branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Mother and Child due to pregnancy, and their condition is stable. The remaining 15 patients are in satisfactory condition and are receiving treatment in the appropriate hospital departments.
