Infantino congratulates Uzbekistan on World Cup debut

FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated the Uzbekistan national team on its historic World Cup debut. Infantino personally conveyed the congratulations to Uzbekistan national team officials during the match against Colombia.

The Uzbek delegation, which is currently in Mexico, met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino at Azteca Stadium. During the conversation, Infantino congratulated Uzbekistan’s national team on its first-ever participation in the World Cup and wished the team success in its upcoming matches.

During the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic and Paralympic committees, and the Uzbekistan Football Association expressed gratitude to the FIFA President for his attention and support.

Officials also noted that the match against Colombia was of great importance for the development of national football. The parties also exchanged views on cooperation within the framework of the World Cup and the high-level organization of the tournament.

At the same time, the Uzbek delegation congratulated Colombian Football Federation President and FIFA Council member Ramon Jesurun on his team’s victory and presented him with a commemorative gift.

Uzbekistan’s national team played against Colombia in the first round and suffered a 3-1 defeat.
