A person accused of fraud and detained in Moldova has been extradited to Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the ministry, as a result of operational measures carried out in cooperation between the National Central Bureaus of Interpol in Uzbekistan and Moldova, an Uzbek citizen who was internationally wanted for committing fraud was extradited from Chisinau.

The international search for the person had been announced through Interpol channels by Uzbekistan’s Interpol National Central Bureau. In order to identify his location and organize his detention, Uzbekistan’s Interpol bureau maintained regular information exchange and joint actions with Moldova’s Interpol bureau.

As a result of search operations, the wanted person’s location was identified, and he was detained in Moldova.

After the necessary extradition procedures were completed, the wanted person was handed over to Uzbekistan’s competent authorities to be held criminally liable.

The measures carried out once again confirmed the effectiveness of international police cooperation within Interpol and the commitment of law enforcement agencies to the principle that accountability for committed crimes is inevitable.

Earlier, three Uzbek citizens who had been placed on the international wanted list were detained in the United Arab Emirates.
