This summer season began with dry and moderately warm weather, according to Uzhydromet.
From June 1 to 7, mostly dry conditions will prevail across the country, with temperatures gradually rising to 35-38 degrees Celsius. In the northern, southern, and desert regions, daytime highs may reach up to 40 degrees.
For the remainder of the month, temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 33-38 degrees and 25-30 degrees Celsius. On the hottest days, the northern, southern, and desert regions could see temperatures climb to 39-41 degrees. Periodic short-term rains are likely towards the end of the first ten days, as well as during the second and third ten-day periods.
Uzhydromet’s preliminary assessment, based on forecasts from global meteorological centers, suggests that the average temperature this summer will be slightly above normal. While the season will include periods of intense heat nearing extreme values, it will also experience intervals of relatively milder temperatures.
Historically, June temperatures tend to be 4-5 degrees Celsius higher than May averages, and 6-7 degrees higher in desert areas. Recent trends indicate a steady rise in June temperatures across Uzbekistan. Over the past decade, only June 2019 recorded slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures in most regions, with June 2017 and 2018 cooler in northern and desert areas. Otherwise, June temperatures have consistently been above average.
Notably, June months from 2021 to 2024 rank among the five hottest on record in almost all regions of Uzbekistan.
