Construction of Kambarata HPP-1 to be accelerated

On June 10, as part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Head of the Presidential Administration, Odilbek Kosimaliev. The meeting was reported by the presidential press service.
At the start of the conversation, Odilbek Kosimaliev conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to President Mirziyoyev.
The sides discussed ways to further strengthen the friendly and comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Key topics included increasing bilateral trade, expanding industrial cooperation, deepening interregional ties, and promoting cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
Special attention was given to accelerating the implementation of major regional infrastructure projects, particularly in energy and transport. This includes the construction of the Kambarata Hydropower Plant-1 (HPP-1) and the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway.
The two sides also stressed the importance of effectively organizing the upcoming meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Council of Heads of Regions, both scheduled to take place later this year.
