Kazakhstan’s Emergency Situations Ministry has rescued three Uzbek citizens who were stranded during a snowstorm, the ministry said on its official page.
Rescuers evacuated 87 people, including six children, within 24 hours and pulled 10 vehicles out of snowdrifts.
In the Karaganda region, a passenger car slid into a roadside ditch at the 948th kilometer of the Astana–Karaganda highway bypass. Three Uzbek nationals were inside the vehicle. Rescuers evacuated them to a warming station and used special equipment to pull the car back onto a cleared section of the road.
On the Ulytau–Zhezkazgan highway, about 35 kilometers from the village of Ulytau, another passenger car became stuck in snowdrifts with eight passengers inside. Rescuers freed the vehicle and escorted it back to a cleared section of the road, allowing the passengers to continue their journey.
Kazakhstan’s Emergency Situations Ministry urged citizens to follow safety precautions, monitor weather warnings, and avoid long trips during severe weather. Residents in rural areas were also advised not to travel long distances on foot when conditions worsen.
Earlier, rescuers in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region saved ten people stranded in a snowstorm.
