Social media users have been circulating claims that the two underage girls who jumped from the roof of a multi-storey building in Urgench, Khorezm region, were victims of sexual abuse. The Office of the Children's Ombudsman has responded to these reports.
It has been confirmed that the prosecutor’s office is currently carrying out a pre-investigation inquiry into the incident.
According to preliminary results from a forensic examination, there is no evidence that the girls were sexually abused.
The Children’s Ombudsman stated that the investigation will be conducted in a comprehensive, thorough, and impartial manner and that a legal decision will be made based on the final findings.
“We strongly emphasize that unfounded reports—especially those that contradict the interests of the deceased minor girls and are not based on official sources—violate their honor and dignity. We urge the public not to spread unverified claims about the situation until the investigation is complete,” the Ombudsman’s statement said.
