On 17 November, at the Kuksaroy residence in Tashkent, President Serdar Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan received Uzbekistan’s highest state award — the “Order of High-Level Friendship.” The information was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
While presenting the prestigious award, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that this decision reflects the sincere respect and recognition of the Uzbek people for the Turkmen leader’s contribution to strengthening friendship, mutual trust and strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.
“You are worthily continuing the work of your father — the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. Large-scale projects are being implemented in your country, creating a solid foundation for the well-being of the people,” Mirziyoyev stated.
It was noted that Turkmenistan is celebrating the “Year of International Peace and Trust” and the 30th anniversary of its Neutrality with major events this year. President Serdar Berdymukhamedov’s contribution to expanding the multifaceted Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan partnership was highlighted with appreciation, particularly the steady growth of trade, economic ties and joint cooperation.
A major milestone — the launch of the “Shovot–Toshhovuz” joint border trade zone — was also emphasized. Collaboration in energy, transport, and logistics continues to expand on a mutually beneficial basis.
The award was described as a symbol of strong friendship and good-neighborliness. In return, President Berdymukhamedov expressed gratitude to the Uzbek leader and people for the high recognition, reaffirming his commitment to further strengthening strategic relations between the two countries.
As reported earlier, the Turkmen President arrived in Tashkent on 16 November for a state visit. He attended the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders at the International Congress Center. Today, after a joint photo session at Kuksaroy, Presidents Mirziyoyev and Berdymukhamedov held talks in a restricted format, followed by expanded negotiations with both delegations. The leaders also took part in the opening ceremony of the “Shovot–Toshhovuz” joint border trade zone.
