On August 5, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his working visit to Turkmenistan, according to the presidential press service.
The two leaders discussed the further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economics, transport and logistics, as well as cultural and humanitarian areas.
They expressed satisfaction with the progress made in implementing the agreements reached during the Georgian Prime Minister’s visit to Uzbekistan in March this year.
“Active interdepartmental contacts continue. Meetings between the foreign and economy ministers have been held. The volume of trade and cargo transportation, along with the number of joint projects and enterprises, is steadily increasing,” the statement said.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of taking coordinated measures to boost mutual trade, promote cooperation in agriculture, textiles, electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and food production, and expand collaboration in logistics.
It is worth noting that on March 4, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze paid an official visit to Tashkent. President Mirziyoyev received the Georgian delegation and discussed deepening cooperation in trade, investment, logistics, tourism, and culture. Both sides also welcomed the growing interaction at the parliamentary and government levels.
Earlier, during the UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, President Mirziyoyev held a separate meeting in Turkmenistan with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. They discussed pressing global and regional issues, including preparations for the upcoming 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
