Mirziyoyev meets with Emir of Qatar

On November 4, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha as part of his working visit, the presidential press service reported.

The meeting focused on strengthening strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar and expanding multifaceted practical cooperation. At the beginning of the talks, President Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated the Emir on the successful organization of the Second World Summit on Social Development.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the productive dialogues and exchanges taking place at various levels. Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 45 percent. Major investment projects are being implemented with the participation of leading Qatari companies. Parliamentary, cultural, and humanitarian ties are also developing.

Special attention was given to promoting cooperation projects in green energy, transport, geology, textiles, tourism, infrastructure development, and other sectors. The leaders also exchanged views on pressing international and regional issues.

For reference, the opening of the Second World Summit on Social Development, with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took place at the Qatar National Convention Center in Doha.
