Mirziyoyev meets OSCE Chairman-In-Office

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Acting Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Elina Valtonen, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit. The meeting was reported by the presidential press service.

At the start of the conversation, Valtonen conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Finnish President Alexander Stubb to President Mirziyoyev.

The meeting focused on strengthening practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE, as well as expanding bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and Finland.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing constructive engagement with the OSCE in areas such as modernization of Uzbekistan’s national electoral system, media freedom, gender and youth empowerment, and advancing the “green” agenda. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing collaboration in the fields of climate security and sustainable development.

The Uzbek-Finnish agenda was also reviewed, with attention given to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural and humanitarian spheres. The parties exchanged views on pressing regional issues and discussed a roadmap for future joint initiatives.

It is worth noting that earlier today, June 11, President Mirziyoyev also received Qais bin Muhammad al-Yusuf, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion of Oman, who is in Uzbekistan to attend the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
