Uzbek professional boxer Murodjon Akhmadaliyev will enter the ring for his next fight on September 14 this year. The announcement was made on his official Instagram page.
On that date, Akhmadaliyev is scheduled to face undisputed world champion Naoya Inoue in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
For context, earlier this spring, the camps of Akhmadaliyev and Inoue, along with the World Boxing Association (WBA) leadership, reached an agreement. According to the deal, Inoue would voluntarily defend his title on May 4 before facing Akhmadaliyev in September. The agreement required both fighters to win their respective interim bouts.
Inoue fulfilled his part by knocking out Ramon Cardenas on May 4. Akhmadaliyev followed suit on May 30, knocking down his opponent, Kevin Castillo, in the 5th and 6th rounds. A dominant combination in the 8th round forced Castillo’s trainer to throw in the towel, ending the fight.
With that victory, Akhmadaliyev improved his professional record to 14 wins. The 30-year-old now holds a 14-1 record, while his upcoming opponent, 32-year-old Naoya Inoue, boasts an undefeated record of 30 professional wins.
