Authorities in the Namangan region have prevented the sale of substandard medicines worth 15 billion soums. This was reported by the State Security Service.

According to the report, a resident of the Kosonsoy district, born in 1986, was detained with material evidence while attempting to sell 2,100 boxes of the drug "Ferromed," manufactured in India, to an undercover buyer for 168 million soums. The drug had not been registered in the state register and lacked certificates of conformity.

Following the arrest, further operational measures led to the discovery and seizure of an additional 4,296 boxes of "Ferromed" from the suspect’s apartment. An assessment revealed that the total value of the 6,396 boxes amounted to 1 billion 223 million soums.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Article 186³ of the Criminal Code — which covers the production, acquisition, storage, transportation, or sale of low-quality or counterfeit medicines or medical devices for the purpose of sale, the sale of medicines outside licensed pharmacies, and violations of prescription sales procedures for medicines containing potent substances. Investigations are ongoing.

In another case recorded in the city of Namangan, authorities inspected three non-residential premises belonging to the warehouse manager of a pharmaceutical LLC and two of his associates. During the operation, 195,323 counterfeit medicines of 2,307 types, worth more than 12.8 billion soums and lacking proper documentation, were found and seized.

Forensic chemical and commodity examinations have been ordered, and pre-investigation procedures are underway.

In a separate incident, 45,641 medicines of 128 types, manufactured abroad and valued at 1.2 billion soums, were seized from two “secret warehouses” in Namangan city and the Uychi district. These medicines have also been sent for examination, and preliminary investigations are continuing.

It should be noted that earlier, secret warehouses storing illegal medicines were uncovered during an operational operation in the Namangan region.
