A fatal traffic accident occurred at an unguarded railway crossing between the Chartok and Uychi stations in the Namangan region, Uzbekistan Railways JSC reported.
According to the information, the driver of a Gentra passenger car, in gross violation of traffic rules, attempted to cross the tracks in front of an oncoming train. There were six people in the car—five women and a small child. None of them survived the powerful collision.
The train operators reportedly applied the emergency brake, but it was impossible to prevent the tragedy. The train sustained minor damage as a result of the accident.
It is worth noting that on September 7, a separate traffic accident involving multiple vehicles occurred on the A-373 Tashkent–Osh international highway, passing through Angren in the Tashkent region. Initially, seven fatalities were reported, but according to a decree signed on September 9 by the governor of Fergana region, Khairullo Bozorov, the death toll rose to 11, with six others hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries.
