Man detained for selling unregistered medicines in Namangan region

A man has been detained in Norin district of Namangan Region for illegally operating a pharmacy and selling medicines without verified quality certification, according to the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of Uzbekistan.
According to the report, during a law enforcement operation conducted in Norin district, citizen S.A. was found to have opened and operated a pharmacy in the “Bo‘ston” neighborhood without registering as a legal entrepreneur.
It was also established that he had been selling medicines and medical supplies without proper quality certification. Authorities seized 29,289 units of medicines and medical products across 1,197 types, with a total value of 140.9 million soums, as material evidence.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 186³ of the Criminal Code, which covers the production, acquisition, storage, transportation, or sale of substandard or counterfeit medicines and medical goods, as well as their sale outside licensed pharmacies. Investigative actions are ongoing.
