Recently, messages have been circulating on social media to a number of prominent athletes and representatives of the sports community in the name of Otabek Umarov, First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. The National Olympic Committee (NOC) issued a warning about the situation.

According to the NOC, these messages are being distributed by fake accounts and constitute an attempted fraud.

“All news and official statements related to Uzbek sports are published exclusively through the official information resources of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan or via relevant federations and associations,” the statement said.

In this regard, recipients are urged not to trust such messages, not to respond to them, not to share personal information, and to immediately block suspicious accounts and report them.

Earlier, it was reported that in Bukhara region, an unidentified individual created a fake Telegram account in the name of the head of an influential local organization in an attempt to obtain money through fraudulent means.
