The payment deadlines for contract-based education at state higher education institutions in Uzbekistan have been updated. The changes were outlined on November 21 in amendments to the regulation on the form of payment contracts in educational institutions and the procedure for allocating funds received, which was registered by the Ministry of Justice.

Under the new rules, tuition payments for contract-based study must be made according to the following schedule:

  •  At least 25 percent of the tuition fee must be paid by September 15 for new applicants and by October 1 for continuing students, or by a later date set by the rector of the higher education institution.
  •  At least 50 percent must be paid by January 1.
  •  At least 75 percent must be paid by March 1, and 100 percent by May 1, or by a later date set by the rector.

The State Commission has the authority to extend these payment deadlines if necessary.

Funds collected from tuition contracts may be allocated to support promising young educators and researchers for further training or internships at foreign higher education institutions.

Additionally, higher education institutions may provide financial support to students under social protection measures. Assistance can be provided once a year to each student, up to six times the minimum monthly wage.
