Uzbekistan launches Presidential “El-Yurt Umidi” scholarship for global education

On May 5, Uzbekistan announced the introduction of the Presidential "El-Yurt Umidi" Scholarship, aimed at supporting talented professionals pursuing education abroad and enhancing their skills, as outlined in the Presidential decree on "Additional Measures to Support the Education and Professional Development of Skilled Specialists."

The "El-Yurt Umidi" Fund has been restructured under the Office of the President as the Foundation for Training Promising Cadres. Its core objectives include:

  • Identifying the national demand for highly skilled, modern-thinking, and patriotic professionals
  • Strategically guiding scholarship recipients to meet ministerial, institutional, and economic sector needs
  • Ensuring favorable working conditions and social protections for scholars upon their return to Uzbekistan
  • Leveraging scholars’ expertise to enhance Uzbekistan’s global reputation

Starting September 1, 2025, the program will:

  • Compile a list of candidates from ministries, agencies, and strategic enterprises for international internships
  • Determine internship locations and durations in coordination with the State Civil Service Development Agency and "El-Yurt Umidi" Fund
  • Provide foreign language training to selected candidates to facilitate successful internships

Scholarship Opportunities for Higher Education

  • The decree also introduces the Presidential "El-Yurt Umidi" Scholarship for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral studies:
  • Selection is based on open competition, including tests and interviews
  • Candidates will be evaluated on intellectual abilities, analytical skills, creativity, and psychological stability

Special Benefits for Scholars Based on Global University Rankings

  • Top 100 universities: Full tuition covered without competition
  • Top 300 universities: International transport and accommodation costs covered without competition
  • Top 20 universities: At least 50% of tuition covered for graduates from Presidential, creative, and specialized schools without competition

Previously, Uzbekistan announced the reorganization of the "El-Yurt Umidi" Fund. Recently, Gulnoza Saydiganikhojaevna Ismoilova was appointed as the Executive Director of the fund.
