Uzbekistan national team player Jaloliddin Masharipov will not participate in the World Cup due to injury. The Uzbekistan Football Association reported this.

According to the report, Masharipov had been without match practice for a long period and was unable to fully participate in training sessions. The medical staff took the necessary measures to help the player recover and return to the squad as soon as possible, and work was carried out under an individual training program.

The results of his medical examinations were submitted to the FIFA Medical Committee. After reviewing the case, the committee confirmed that the player would not be able to participate in the World Cup. Ruslanbek Jiyanov has been included in the final squad in his place.

“We wish Jaloliddin Masharipov a speedy recovery and return to the team,” the statement said.

For reference, Uzbekistan will play its opening World Cup match against Colombia on June 18 this year. The match will be held at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico and will begin at 7:00 a.m. Tashkent time. After that, the national team will face Portugal on June 23 and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on June 27.

Earlier, it was reported that Masharipov was unable to take part in recent training sessions during the camp in the United States, as well as friendly matches against Canada and the Netherlands, due to lower back pain.
