More than 2 million rubles in unpaid wages have been recovered for Uzbek workers in Russia, the Dunyo news agency reported.
According to the report, representatives of Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Yekaterinburg and the External Labor Migration Agency traveled to Tobolsk in Russia’s Tyumen region, where they held meetings with Uzbek citizens engaged in temporary employment.
During the working visit, a mobile reception was organized for more than 100 citizens employed at the sole proprietorship Ijproservis and the limited liability company Sadkom. During the meetings, diplomats provided consular and legal assistance, as well as explanations on passport processing and compliance with migration laws. Uzbek citizens were also specifically warned to remain vigilant, avoid falling under the influence of extremist ideas, and understand that joining military companies could result in criminal liability.
Following an examination based on the workers’ appeals, it was established that Sadkom had unjustifiably withheld the February and March wages of 26 Uzbek nationals. In connection with the case, negotiations were held with the management of the site’s general contractor, Sibur, and the direct employers. At the end of the talks, the employers acknowledged that the wages had not been paid and agreed to settle the outstanding debt.
