Russian bloggers have been sentenced to 15 days in detention after insulting Kazakh women in a video, Nur.kz reported.

According to reports, one of the bloggers’ videos discussed Kazakh women and was uploaded to a member’s YouTube channel. In the video, one of the men, Renat Pashayev, made offensive remarks about Kazakh women and said he was willing to have sexual relations with them. This part of the livestream was later edited and removed, but users had already downloaded the video and shared it across social media platforms, sparking strong public backlash.

Soon afterward, the bloggers were found to have violated public order and Kazakhstan’s current legislation by using offensive language on social media. The case materials were sent to the Almaty Interdistrict Administrative Court. After reviewing the situation, the court sentenced both offenders to 15 days of administrative detention.

Deputy Prosecutor General Galymzhan Koygeldiyev commented on the situation during a briefing.

“Yes, they were charged with minor hooliganism and sentenced to 15 days in custody. However, I can say that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation under Article 174 on inciting ethnic hatred,” Koygeldiyev said.

Earlier, a Turkmen blogger named Didar, who had criticized high meat prices in Turkmenistan, was reported missing. A few days later, some social media users claimed in comments that he had died after being taken away by police.
