Rustam Rakhmonovich Tursunov has been dismissed from his role as head of the Department for the Execution of Punishments under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The decision was made by decree of Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
For context, Tursunov was appointed to this position in February 2021. Prior to that, he served as head of the Navoi Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
Earlier, it was reported that Bekmurod Tojimirzaevich Abdullaev, deputy minister of internal affairs and head of the Public Safety Department, had also been relieved of his duties.
The reasons for their dismissals have not been disclosed.
