Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva attended the opening ceremony of Uzbekistan’s national pavilion at the Venice Biennale. She announced this on her Telegram channel.
According to Mirziyoyeva, the Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious platforms of contemporary world art, is being held this year under the theme “In Minor Keys.” She said the theme was chosen with great precision for the current era, as it reflects subtle and complex views on understanding the world.

“I delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of Uzbekistan’s national pavilion, ‘The Aural Sea,’ at the 61st Venice Biennale. It was a deeply meaningful address for me,” the head of the Presidential Administration said.

According to her, the project is dedicated to the Aral Sea, but it is not interpreted solely as a symbol of ecological tragedy. In the exposition, the Aral Sea is presented as a space of memory, legends, narratives and creative exploration.

“Once again, our country’s pavilion attracted great interest from Biennale participants and guests, encouraging them to learn more about our culture and travel to our region,” Saida Mirziyoyeva said.

For reference, the Venice Biennale is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious art forums and has been held every two years since 1895. The 61st International Art Exhibition, Biennale Arte 2026, is currently taking place. It runs from May 9 to November 22. The exhibition is traditionally held in the Giardini gardens and the Arsenale, a former shipyard, as well as at various venues across the city.
