Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulates “Arkadag” on the New Year

On December 29, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Presidential Press Service reported.

At the beginning of the conversation, the leaders warmly congratulated each other on the upcoming New Year and wished peace, prosperity, and development to the brotherly peoples of both countries. Shavkat Mirziyoyev also conveyed his sincere greetings to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the talks, the leaders discussed pressing issues related to further strengthening Uzbek–Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership within the framework of agreements reached at the highest level.

It was noted with satisfaction that contacts at all levels are continuing actively. Mutual trade and cargo transportation volumes are growing rapidly. Cooperation is expanding in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture and water management, as well as transport. The Shovot–Tashhovuz cross-border trade zone has been launched. Interregional, business, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges have also intensified.

The sides also exchanged views on key issues of regional cooperation. Shavkat Mirziyoyev separately emphasized the successful holding of major summits in Avaza, as well as forums organized in Ashgabat to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The schedule of upcoming meetings for the next year was reviewed, and the parties agreed to continue jointly organizing international and regional events.
